Metaphor has long been considered a beautiful tool for expressing meaning. In the past, especially from the perspective of classicism, metaphor was exclusively reserved for literature and was always addressed in the field of literature. However, since the 18th century, with the teachings of the Romantic school, metaphor has been viewed with a general perspective and as a function of imagination in conceptualization and reasoning, and as a result, this attitude has established a constant trade-off between automatic language and the language of literature. Today, metaphor is studied from a linguistic perspective and even in everyday language to the extent that it has led to the emergence of theories and justifications for this meaning-making process. The aim of this article is to examine the extent and type of metaphors in the field of political texts in newspapers through a case study of Iranian nuclear energy news. For this purpose, Safavi's (1380) and Ardakani's (1382) volumetric motor, power, and spatial schemas have been used to categorize metaphors. Then, a new sensory schema and combined motor, power, and spatial power schemas have been proposed for more precise classification. The results indicate that movement and power schemas and the combination of the two have the highest frequency in metaphors. In addition, a number of highly frequent metaphors have not yet been recorded in dictionaries, which indicates that their presence is in the transition stage from living to dead metaphors
